Sledging/Tobogganing

Add to that what is likely the longest toboggan run in all the world. Before you hit the hill, grab your speed-demon sled and hop aboard the Wildkogel Lifts for a leisurely ride up to those lofty elevations above (toboggan ticket: adults EUR 5.00/ children EUR 3.00). At this point, all that’s left is a quick 15-minute walk towards the Wildkogelhaus and the start of the toboggan run – then off you go! You’ll be zipping down a course that’s the better part of 14 km in length, dropping some 1300 meters on its way back down to Bramberg. Anything that slides over the snow is allowed – be that a speedy racing toboggan, a comfortable sled, or even a fancy bobsled. The ride takes approx. 30 – 50 mins., depending on how good you are. And get this: the entire hill is floodlit until 9pm – now that adds an extra bit of zest to the night! You can rent out toboggans, sleds or bobs from the sports shops in Neukirchen or Bramberg.
As you’re sledding, be sure to follow these simple rules:
- Always hold on to the rope loop of your toboggan - that way you’ll avoid unnecessarily endangering your fellow sledders and ensure your sled doesn’t get away from you.
- Obtain information on snow and weather conditions (06566 7251 for the Bramberg Tourist Office, or 06565 6205 for the Wildkogel Lifts’ "SnowPhone").
- For you to really enjoy the ride, you need to be dressed in appropriate clothing. Especially for children (ages 3/4 or older), we recommend ski glasses, a scarf, cap, ski pants or leggings, gloves, sturdy boots – but not ski boots. Children 6 and under should always ride on the same sled as their parents! Tip: it’s also much safer for the kids to wear a helmet during the ride!
